I'm looking for a moderately priced sun shade to use with my Phantom 3 and iPad air. The air is Apple's standard size, 9.7". I assume that there are sun shades that will work for a variety of tablets of this size.

Since the Phantom 3 and the Inspire 1 use the same remote sun shades should be interchangeable between them.

I'd like a sun shade that can collapse for easy transport.

There are several threads here talking about sun shades but they are pretty scattered and not very helpful. What have you bought that works well for you, and where did you buy it? (I'm in the US.)

While I'm figuring out what kind of sun shade to get I made one out of a large cardboard box and adhesive-backed velcro hook-and-loop fasteners. It works pretty well, actually. I may post some pictures, and it wouldn't be too hard to create a pattern for those that want to duplicate it.

I use PadHat Air (magnetic version) from Hoodivision on my iPad Air and it does work fairly well due to its 70-degree angle tilt. It helps cut a lot of glare and sunlight. It's also easy to put on and fold down for storage. hoodivision

You can get one on eBay for around $8.00 from China

I've owned a few of various prices for my iPad Air, and honestly I think they're all the same. I'm currently using a cheap Chinese one I got off eBay and it works just fine.

I just bought this one from Amazon. Got it yesterday, fits perfect and seems to be well made! Its similar to the one above, but only 13 dollars free shipping if you have prime.
Amazon.com : Fits iPad Air 2, iPad Air, 9.7" Tablet FPV Monitor Sunshade Sun Hood for DJI Phantom 3 Transmitter Remote Controller Quick Release iPad Holder Clip Mount - White : Camera & Photo

Thanks. How are the suction cups for attaching it? And do you think a low profile case would fit?

Go to an art supply store and but some mat board and make your own. I used some poster board. Little cutting and tape. Instant satisfaction.

Same here. 4 dollars, I bought an "art backing" sheet. Basically is 3/8" thick, so good and sturdy. Inside is thin foam with a white/black matte poster board glued to either side. Already had tape. 30 min of work and awesome shade.

Like quite a few have mentioned, you get them on eBay for about 5-10$. Thats where i bought mine. payed 8$ i think. If you don't have a particular interest in making your own, i don't see why one should. Even if it takes only half an hour, it´s still a hassle, look homemade, and you save what? 2$?

I recently bought a cush n shade to keep the sun off my face when sat outside. Fits to chairs and sunbeds. This is also ideal when reading /using tablets. laptops and devices in the sun. You can buy them on amazon just search for cush n shade

I've bought shades available from Amazon etc. but found they were not really good at cutting out sunlight. Have made my own out of black cardboard bought cheap. Secret is to have back section with a higher top that folds down over top. This really cuts down the light coming onto the screen. You can cut a curve into the front edge to put your forehead against. The top flap is approx 2/3 of total top area so you can acccess screen.
