I bought one of those 49$ fire tablets from amazon thinkin I could probably get it to work, and if I couldn't, well it was 49$, so what the hell. There are multiple videos on the net about how to hack em, they don't come with google play or the apple equivalen, just a bunch of games and movies and stuff. It got here today and immediately went to work hacking the hell out of it, for 4 hours. I finally got tired and frustrated and thought I'd try downloading the app to my pc, then hooking them together and transferring the GO app to the tablet. Those guys on youtube are intelligent I have no doubt, but they aint school teachers. The low tech idea I had worked. So anybody lookin for a cheap, and I mean really cheap tablet, the kindle fire 49$ job works.

It's not the same. You can find the RCA Voyager II on eBay too.

I want to vouch for the RCA Voyager II being a good tablet for use with DJI GO. I ran it for a couple of weeks and it performed great. My only issue was with the screen (clarity, viewing angles). However, it does have a matte finish which may help with glare.

With that said, I'd like to add another tablet contender - Digiland 7'' from Best Buy:
DigiLand - 7" Tablet - 8GB - Black

It has virtually identical hardware specs to RCA Voyager II (Mediatek Quad core, 1 GB RAM), but adds GPS. It also has a superior screen in my opinion. The viewer angles are much better and while the resolution is the same (1024x600), it seems to have more clarity/sharpness.

For me, I needed a tablet that could pull double duty - using for basic web browsing, but also for flying the Phantom.

I just got a $49 kindle from bestbuy to try this because I'm a nerd. After hunting all over the net for different ways to get the go app on there I found a video on YouTube with corresponding links to some files, this is beyond easy. You can literally get the full google play store working in like 3 minutes and its all done from your kindle, no computer needed! That said the go app seams to connect and work properly with my P3S but I have not actually taken off and flied with it yet. Enjoy!

Is there a way to get the iPhone 4s to work?

You should be able to.
You must have iOS 8. So check that, and then you can download and run DJI GO.

This digiland with same specs as voyager looks good, especially since it has a gps.

The processor is too slow. If using an Apple device, you'll need a device that has at least an A7 processor. You can find a complete list of compatible Apple devices here.

It's not there is it :( good job I have my iPad Air 2 as backup, knocked together a holder but it's just a bit too big... Gonna have to invest in an iPad mini I think ..

Thanks for that, even though you were the bearer of bad news.. :)

Digiland?? Could you send a link please?

I'm curious though as to how these things are handling video? For instance, are they robust enough to handle the 720p video on a P3P?

Does anybody know anything about the Digiland 10.1 tablet? Does it work as well?

How's the battery on it? It has mixed reviews on Walmart. I'm really glad you posted this. I've been wanting an iPad mini but just can't stomach the price.

So far it seems fine.
Haven't really used it a lot. I did use it for some surfing just to make sure it works.
Walmart only has a 15 day return policy on tablets.
It says I charged it on 1/30 and now it's at 64% battery and says approx. 5 days left.
I added a couple small pieces of Velcro since it didn't feel very secure in the holder. Almost dropped it once off of the controller.
